Stephanie Kripa Cooper-Lewter serves as Senior Director of Research for the Foundation.
In this position, she oversees research and evaluation for the Foundation. She is also responsible for identifying and sharing the Foundation’s best practices.
Ms. Cooper-Lewter holds a bachelor's degree from Bethel College. She received her Master of Social Work from the University of Minnesota as a Child Welfare Scholarship recipient through the Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of South Carolina, and the recipient of a nationally competitive three-year Council on Social Work Education Minority Doctoral Clinical Fellowship. She has also been awarded a Centennial Fellowship from the graduate school of the University of South Carolina.
Prior to joining the Foundation in 2001 Ms. Cooper-Lewter served at Healthy Learners and has also previously held the role of president of a local affiliate of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. She is a licensed Master Social Work professional with over fifteen years experience in the nonprofit, social service, health and educational sector working with families from diverse cultures and heritages.
Ms. Cooper-Lewter is a member of the American Evaluation Association and South Carolina Grantmakers Network. She serves on the United Way of the Midlands Education Community Council, and is an advisory council member of the Puentes (Bridges) Project, an expansion of the Perinatal Awareness for Successful Outcomes Program of the South Carolina Public Health Institute. She is also 2010-2011 Southeastern Council of Foundations Hull Fellow.
She and her husband Nicholas Charles have two children, Courtney and Nicholas Chetan. She loves to travel, meet new people and celebrate diversity.
