Leadership Strategies Graduate Course Class
A group of 11 South Carolina nonprofit leaders were selected for the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina’s first nonprofit leadership graduate course. The course, a collaborative effort with Columbia College, is an expansion of the Foundation’s Learning Academy which offers free daylong workshops and training to staff and volunteers of nonprofit organizations addressing poverty across the state.
Leadership Strategies, the graduate course, challenges leaders to extend their learning of executive leadership and is designed around patterns of thought and practices of effective leadership. Class members meet once a month for two consecutive days for five months and themes range from ethics and strategic leadership to politics and policy for social impact.

Foundation Awards $89,900 to Catholic Sister-Affiliated Programs
Nine Collaboration for Ministry (CMI) grants totaling $89,900 were awarded to programs associated with women religious (Sisters) in South Carolina.
The Foundation recognizes the needs and challenges facing congregations of women religious in South Carolina. These CMI grants were established to support congregations of women religious in their efforts with the poor and underserved in South Carolina.

South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families Recognized as a Promising Practice
The US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Family Assistance recently released a report, Emerging Findings from the Office of Family Assistance Healthy Marriage and Responsible Fatherhood Grant Programs: A Review of Select Grantee Profiles and Promising Results, which features the South Carolina Center for Fathers and Families as a Promising Practice.
Promising Practices are defined as programmatic functions, activities and processes for which an evidence base does not yet exist, but for which staff programmatic experience, experts in the fields and experienced technical advisors agree are beneficial to overall program functioning. The report, featuring eight Healthy Marriage programs and eight Responsible Fatherhood programs, will be used to inform White House Administration, Congress and practitioners in the field about promising practices of the Healthy Marriage and Responsible Fatherhood programs.

Team Skills Workshop
The Foundation is accepting applications for its Team Skills Workshop on Wednesday, October 21 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
This workshop will provide the basic tools to enhance working relationships which, in turn, increases efficiency and productivity. Learn what makes a good team, how to achieve maximum potential and individual and team goals to get there.

Caritas Grant Application Deadline: November 3
There is still time to apply for a Caritas grant. Nonprofit organizations providing outreach services to the poor and marginalized can apply by the first Tuesday in November (November 3). These grants are designed for organizations with annual budgets of less than $250,000 and do not exceed $3,000.
