Foundation Launches Education Component
As good stewards, it is the desire of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina to provide a diverse population of non-profit organizations in South Carolina with the opportunity to expand their skills and knowledge and enhance educational access, while cultivating personal and organizational responsibility and capacity.
Thus, the Foundation's Education Component was created with the purpose to leverage training and educational opportunities for the capacity building needs of multiple non-profit organizations in the state of South Carolina.
The Educational Component strives to develop intentional individuals and organizations who are empowered, informed and responsible, provide learning environments that integrate emerging trends and innovation and promote continuous learning.
The workshop sizes will be limited to allow for more targeted and hands-on learning. In an effort to better tailor the workshops to individual and organizational needs there will be a selection process. Potential participants will fill out an application for workshops they wish to attend. The facilitators and Foundation staff will review and select applicants. There are currently 13 workshops set up for the year. These include sessions on board governance and ethics, communications and marketing, evaluation, financial management, fundraising, grant writing, partnerships and sustainability and strategic planning. Additional and more customized workshops will be added as necessary.
Foundation To Host Grant Writing Basics Workshop
The first workshop in the foundation's Education Component is Grant Writing Basics to be held Wednesday, March 26 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina office.
This interactive workshop provides individuals with the tools and resources for grant writing. By the end of the session participants will understand basic grant writing terms and the grant writing process, find local funders, complete budgets and budget narratives, write outcome objectives and more. Individuals will receive sample grant proposals, hear from actual funders and have the opportunity to submit a mock proposal to receive expert feedback. This hands-on workshop leaves participants educated and empowered.
To allow more interaction and learning opportunities, each workshop is limited in size. Participation in the workshop is determined by a selective process. The selection process requires the submission of a completed application form.
