2012 Grantmaking Guidelines

January 25, 2012

It is the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina’s intent to help organizations addressing poverty when they need it most.  The Foundation has announced several grant opportunities available throughout 2012.

2012 Grant Opportunities:

Strategic Grants
The Foundation addresses generational poverty through its Strategic grants. These grants are designed to comprehensively work with organizations to affect organizational and community impact at multiple levels. The Foundation views Strategic grants as a partnership with each grantee to enhance results, maximize resources and to insure that measurable change occurs. The Foundation focuses on three broad categories of health, education and social services. In 2012, the Foundation is looking for programs that impact communities and create sustained outcomes. There will also be a new face-to-face interview in the review process.

While the Foundation does not place a specific limit on funds requested, all requests submitted for consideration by the Foundation will be viewed in proportion to funds available for Foundation grants. Strategic grants can be multi-year grants. Grant award amounts will vary depending on each funding proposal.

Pre-applications must be completed and submitted online by 11:59 p.m. on March 6, 2012. For more information on Strategic grants, click here.

Caritas Grants
The Caritas grants program purpose is to provide support to organizations dealing with situational poverty or crisis poverty. The demand for food, clothing, shelter and free health programs as well as other immediate needs is expanding for organizations providing these services. Caritas grant awards are up to $5,000 for a one-year period and are designed for organizations with annual budgets of less than $600,000.

Caritas grants are awarded twice a year. The 2012 application deadlines for Caritas grants are April 3 and October 2, 2012. Learn more about Caritas grants.
