Thank you so much for taking the time to visit the Foundation's Web site and learn more about our mission and our grantmaking opportunities. The 2008 year is going to be a year of some growth for our organization. Through our Dimensions of Poverty Initiative we will continue to offer Responsive Grants and will likely award 20 during the year. We will also continue with our Caritas grants for organizations meeting basic needs and dealing with the consequences of poverty. We plan to award between 30 and 35 of these grants this year. We will expand in our training and teaching of both current and potential grantees. Throughout the year, you will see different workshops or training sessions that will be available, many in our office. These will cover an array of topic areas such as communications, fund raising, board governance and development and financial management to name a few. We invite you to take advantage of these workshops.

As one of a few statewide funders, there is tremendous interest in our grants and we often receive far more requests than is feasible for us to support. However, we view this as an opportunity and intend to continue with an open process that allows those who believe they qualify for consideration by the Foundation to apply. We invite you to read about our organization and our mission to address the roots causes of poverty in South Carolina. We emphasize youth and family and are outcome focused. Since our inception in 1996, the Sisters of Charity Foundation has awarded more than 1200 grants and more than $37 million to South Carolina non-profit and faith-based organizations. With our assets totaling more than $95 million, we are currently the third largest Foundation in South Carolina.
