Yvonne Orr joined the Foundation Board in 2006.
She has a long history in education, serving at Burke High School, the Charleston County School District, Morris College, The Citadel and most recently as principal of the Catholic Diocese of Charleston’s Charleston Catholic School from 2000 through 2006. She received a bachelor’s degree from South Carolina State College and a Masters in Education from The Citadel.
Ms. Orr has been very involved in both professional and civic organizations. She serves as youth coordinator of Junior Daughters of Knights of Peter Claver, president of St. Patrick Parish Counsel, a Eucharistic Minister and past co-chair of Mayor’s Commission for Children, Youth and Families. She is a member of the National Education Association, Phi Delta Kappa, South Carolina Education Association, Trident Urban League’s Speakers Bureau and The Lions Club.
She and her husband John are members of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and have two daughters, one son and five grandchildren.
